Botox Injections

What is Botox?

Botulinum Toxin (Type A) is a schedule 4 medicine. In aesthetic and anti-aging medicine, we use it to relax facial muscles. We don’t inject the wrinkle itself but rather a small group of tiny muscles that create the folds in the skin.  After the muscles have been relaxed for a while, the skin folds reduce and the end-result is a smooth, wrinkle-free rejuvenated skin.

Understanding Botox:

Every Botox treatment should be individualized. Some of us have deep wrinkles, while others have subtle fine lines. At the same time, some of us have strong facial muscles, while others have naturally weaker ones. Skin type, tone, color, age, genetics and lifestyle are all things that will have an influence on our skin and a “one-size-fits-all” approach simply doesn’t work in aesthetic medicine.

Our Advice

  1. For a first-time patient; less is more.
  2. The end-result should look natural.
  3. The treatment should be tailored to the patient’s unique facial anatomy and desired outcome.
  4. Most importantly: work with a medical doctor that is specifically trained to administer and inject Botox. Someone that does this type of treatment, all of the time

Are Botox treatments safe?

Botox has been used for more than 10 years in aesthetic practice and for more than 20 years in neurology and ophthalmology. There are many publications supporting its use. It has a long and impressive safety record. Side effects, if they occur, are usually temporary and mild to moderate. By choosing an experienced doctor you will minimise the risk of side effects.

How long will the effect last?

Within days of the treatment you should start to see an improvement in your lines. In most people, the effect last 3-4 months, some people even experience results lasting up to 6 months. It is necessary to bear in mind that this might vary from patient to patient. With repeated treatments, the result can last longer, so it is advised to repeat your Botox treatment every 3 to 4 months.
