INJECTABLES

BOTOX / DYSPORT

In the realm of aesthetic medicine, Botox and Dysport injections is employed to relax facial muscles, aiming not at injecting the wrinkle itself, but instead targeting a small cluster of tiny muscles responsible for creating the skin folds. By inducing relaxation in these muscles, the folds in the skin diminish, resulting in a smooth, rejuvenated appearance devoid of wrinkles. The noticeable results are typically observed within a span of 3-10 days following the treatment.

It is worth noting that the effects of a Botox or Dysport treatment are temporary and usually last between 3-4 months. The duration may vary depending on the specific area being treated and the quantity of Botox administered.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections refer to the treatment method used when administering Botox/Dysport. Botox Cosmetic and Dysport are the specific brand names utilized for administering Botulinum Toxin.

How does Botulinum Toxin work?

Botulinum Toxin is a neuromodulator that acts by relaxing muscles. By injecting this neuromodulator into the active muscles responsible for lines or wrinkles, it erases or softens their appearance.

When will I notice the effects after receiving the injections?

The neuromodulator typically takes 3-7 days to take effect. By day 14, the maximum effect will be noticeable.

How long does the effect last?

The effect of the Toxin injections generally lasts between 3-4 months, and it can even persist longer with frequent treatments.

How frequently can I have the injections done in a year?

During the first year, it is recommended to have the injections done three times. Afterwards, you may find that you can reduce the frequency of treatments.

Is it safe?

Yes, Botulinum Toxin is an FDA-approved treatment for reversing lines and wrinkles, ensuring its safety.

Who should avoid botulinum toxin injections?

Individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain neurological conditions, or are taking specific medications should refrain from receiving Botulinum Toxin injections.

Is the procedure painful?

Extremely fine needles are used for injecting Botulinum Toxin, resulting in a well-tolerated experience for patients.

When is the appropriate time to start Botulinum Toxin injections?

There is no specific age to begin Botulinum Toxin injections. If you have lines or wrinkles that bother you when your face is at rest, this treatment might be suitable for you. Many young people opt for these injections as a preventative measure.

Which areas can be treated?

The most common areas for treatment are the frown lines, forehead lines, and crows feet. Additionally, there are numerous off-label uses for Botulinum Toxin injections, including addressing bunny lines (wrinkles on the nose), soft dimpling of the chin, masseter muscles (for teeth grinding and facial slimming), and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal Fillers are made out of hyaluronic acid, a natural occurring substance that is found in our skin. It’s a gel-like substance that is safely injected underneath the skin to enhance facial features and/or to restore loss of volume due to aging.

With a dermal filler treatment, we can treat the following areas:

  • Lips
  • Naso-labial folds
  • Marionette Lines
  • Cheek volume (to restore loss of volume due to aging)
  • Cheek volume (to enhance features)
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Mid to lower face fine wrinkles
  • Under eye volume loss
  • Chin enhancement
  • Smoker lines
  • Full Filler Face Lifts (6-10 ml face lifts)

What is dermal filler?

The fillers used in the practice contain hyaluronic acid, which is a smooth gel of a synthetic form of natural molecules found in your body. It produces a natural predictable result which can last over a year depending on the filler in the range that is used. We only use the highest grade of dermal filler with an excellent safety record.

What can it be used for?

  • to enhance volume
  • erase wrinkles
  • augment lips
  • induce collagen production
  • overall restore the youthful 3-dimensional contour of the face

Are there any side effects?

Today’s fillers have an excellent safety record and coupled with advanced injection techniques and the use of micro-canulas, side effects are extremely uncommon.

Occasionally bruising, redness and swelling may occur, which is transient and will resolve.

Contour irregularities can occasionally occur. Massaging can usually smooth out irregularities, however if this persists, the filler can be easily dissolved.

Although very rare, Infection can occur as with all injections. The syringe is sterile and standard disinfection procedures are followed to minimise this risk.

The worst possible complications are necrosis and blindness. Fortunately this is extremely rare and happens when the filler is injected into a blood vessel.

Does it hurt?

Most patients experience only mild discomfort. A local anaesthetic cream is applied prior to the procedure and the filler also contains an anaesthetic for a more comfortable experience.

How long does the treatment take?

Typically the procedure can take take from 30-90 minutes depending on the amount of filler injected.

Who is a good candidate for dermal filler?

If you are in good general health and not suffering from any skin infection, you may be a good candidate for dermal fillers. If you are currently suffering from a skin infection or acne breakout, you will need to resolve this condition prior to your treatment.

You should also inform us of any medication that you may be taking that could affect your treatment outcome.

Which filler will be used?

The choice of filler depends on the individual patient, the treatment goals and personal facial anatomy. It is recommended to book a consultation with the doctor to discuss your concerns and work out a treatment plan.
