Cellulite Treatments That Actually Work!

Cellulite affects nearly 90% of women at some point in their lives, regardless of age or body type. It’s caused by fibrous connective bands beneath the skin that pull down on the underlying fat layer, leading to dimples or an uneven, “orange peel” texture. While lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, and hydration play a role, cellulite often requires targeted medical aesthetic treatments to improve the skin’s structure and firmness.

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite forms when the fibrous septae beneath the skin pull downward while underlying fat pushes upward, resulting in dimpling and uneven skin texture. This process is influenced by genetics, hormones, and reduced collagen production with age.

  • Common areas affected: Most often appears on the buttocks, thighs, and upper legs, where the skin is naturally softer and more prone to dimpling.

  • Contributing factors: Becomes more visible as collagen production slows with age, hormonal fluctuations occur, or skin loses elasticity and firmness.

  • Body type: Not dependent on weight or size. Even individuals with a healthy lifestyle and low body fat can experience cellulite due to genetic and structural factors.
Subcision & Sculptra Cellulite Treatments

Subcision and Sculptra can effectively target and reduce cellulite. These treatments are performed by our experienced doctors with a special

  • Subcision: This in-clinic procedure directly targets the fibrous bands responsible for cellulite. Using a fine, sterile cannula, the doctor gently releases the bands that pull the skin downward, allowing the surface to lift and smooth naturally. The process also stimulates collagen production, improving skin firmness and texture.

  • Sculptra: For patients with both cellulite and mild skin laxity, Sculptra Biostimulators can be combined with Subcision for enhanced results. Sculptra gradually stimulates the body’s own collagen and elastin production, helping to firm, thicken, and rejuvenate the skin for a smoother and tighter appearance.

  • Treatment areas: Cellulite treatments are most commonly performed on the buttocks, thighs, hips, and upper arms, where skin dimpling and uneven texture tend to appear most visibly.

Yes. Before your Subcision treatment begins, a local anaesthetic is applied to the area to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure rather than pain. When Sculptra is combined with Subcision, the solution also contains lidocaine, which helps to further minimise discomfort during and after treatment.

Yes. Both Subcision and Sculptra are medically approved, non-surgical treatments performed by our experienced doctors. Subcision directly targets the structural cause of cellulite, while Sculptra uses biocompatible ingredients that naturally stimulate collagen. Each procedure is carried out under sterile conditions to ensure safety and comfort.

Before your treatment, it’s best to avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, anti-inflammatories, or supplements like omega-3s and vitamin E for a few days, unless prescribed by your doctor. You should also avoid alcohol 24 hours before your session to minimise the risk of bruising.

Mild swelling or bruising may occur, which is normal and temporary. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and direct sun exposure for at least 24 to 48 hours. Gently cleanse the area and follow any specific skincare or product instructions provided by your doctor.

Most patients experience only mild tenderness and bruising that subsides within a few days. You can usually return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Results gradually improve over several weeks as new collagen develops.

These treatments are suitable for most healthy adults who want to reduce cellulite and improve skin tone. They are safe and effective for all skin types, including both lighter and darker complexions. However, Subcision and Sculptra are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. During your consultation, your doctor will assess your skin, health history, and treatment goals to create a personalised plan that ensures safe and optimal results.

A typical Subcision or combined Subcision and Sculptra session takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas treated.
